![]() ![]() Learn MoreOne ingredient we avoid and why.Triclosan....it’s a pesticide that many companies blend into our everyday household products to add anti-bacterial properties.
Why's it so bad?
Triclosan is toxic to our livers and lungs and can also disrupt our thyroid function. Great stuff, eh? Sad news is that this one ingredient is found inside 75% of all people living in North America (Califat 2008). Scientists have suggested that widespread use of Triclosan can increase the risk of allergies for kids. Its use may be linked to children developing immune system abnormalities. There’s also a wide body of evidence to support the theory that these kinds of anti-microbial ingredients can actually make bacteria stronger (super bugs), making them difficult to fight with traditional antibiotics when we really need to. Oh yeah, it can’t be separated out at waste water treatment facilities either. Therefore it ends up in our lakes and rivers.
