How To Make A Fun Easter Holiday

Did someone say scavenger hunt? Hooray, time to hide the eggs!  Or maybe you’re the one who’s hiding!  There’s a lot to prepare for this special holiday, from getting the house “hunt” ready, to preparing a great meal, to crafts and décor.  There’s no need to hide.  We’ll take you through some easy tips to have a fantastically fun Easter this year.

Before you starting tucking treasures & clues into corners, between furniture and other hard-to-get-to places, it is important to make sure every corner of your home is cobweb free! The last thing your children should find come Easter morning is a dust bunny. Chocolate bunny is more like it! Be sure to tidy the sofa, tables, cabinets and other furniture. It makes it a little easier for them to concentrate & find their goodies. Think about it, trying to find hidden treasure in a cluttered mess is just plain frustrating!

Another great tip is to think about taking the “hunt” outside (weather permitting).  It’s nice to breathe in fresh air and get back into the great outdoors after the winter we’ve had!

Tackling cleaning the whole house right before a holiday – that maybe still needs to be planned – may seem intimidating and annoying, but take it one step at a time, and together we can conquer any mess without breaking into a sweat.

First, defeat the corners. It’s just a little trick to make the whole house seem less intimidating. Start there and work your way up to the windows. Finally, whip out the all purpose cleaner and wipe down reachable surfaces. Before you know it, presto, you’re all done. That means it’s time to let the fun begin!

Easter is a great occasion to spend time with family and friends. Invite everyone over to your place this year (now that it is well organized and freshly cleaned).  And here’s a special tip: If you want to avoid a mountain of dishes, make it a potluck and encourage everyone to bring their own environmentally friendly containers. Easy on you (your kitchen and the environment) and it gets everyone involved. Take your holiday creativity one step further and suggest a food item theme party – for example, orange coloured dishes or bite-size appetizers only.

Now that the hunt is prepared, the food is taken care of and the house is clean, keep up the rockin’ pace. Prepare a fun and interactive game or craft to involve your kids and occupy them for a few hours. Painted eggs are an Easter classic! Remember, all holidays deserve some kind of decoration and Easter isn't an exception. Make some crafty Easter eggs with bright colours and fill a clear glass vase or bowl with them to create a cheerful environment.
