For those who have allergies, you know how unpleasant it is to be surrounded by dust, animal dander or any of the many other triggers for allergic reactions.
We know a lot about allergies, it’s the reason our company came to be! Our founder’s wife suffered from severe allergic reactions to traditional household cleaning products, the family began creating its own line of products that were naturally derived, very gentle & mild.
Did you know it’s Allergy Awareness Week? It’s a great time to get informed and learn how to reduce the impact triggers can have or get rid of the triggers completely. We’ve compiled some tips to help you out.
With the warmer weather outside, thoughts of spring cleaning come to mind and like the wife of our founder, many people cringe at the thought of cleaning because of how harsh traditional cleaners can be. Then there are those who cringe at the thought of spring because of allergies to pollen, dust, germs and bacteria.

Those who become easily allergic need a refuge from what ails them, and if they can’t seek haven inside their homes, where exactly can they expect to find it? Even if you’re not allergic to dust, dirt, or grime, they are recurring (and uninvited) visitors who contaminate our houses and never leave on their own! Get rid of them. How? Don’t worry; we at Nature Clean® can lend you a hand! We believe that home has to be a safe and clean environment. Stay happy and allergy-free this season!
Tip #1: Cleanliness - Go Natural, Unscented and Hypoallergenic
These days so many cleaners contain harmful ingredients that might kill germs, but they are created synthetically by creating a dangerous chemical cocktail. Or they are loaded with heavy synthetic perfumes and scents that can cause serious headaches.
You can be assured that at Nature Clean® we offer products that are unscented and hypoallergenic, in addition to being completely biodegradable and made from natural ingredients. What’s more, is that they work just the same – if not better – as chemically loaded products in the same category. Either way, products that are natural and hypoallergenic are the right alternative to look for especially if you are prone to various types of allergies.
Stay away from scented products; they are notorious for causing allergic reactions.
In terms of cleaning, some areas you may want to include are:
- Washing curtains with your usual natural detergent
- Cleaning windows with an all-purpose cleaner
- Wiping furniture and perhaps finish with a natural unscented fabric refresher
- Keep your hands clean by washing with an unscented gentle, mild soap
Tip #2: Shoes Off in the House!
It is unbelievable how much dust and bacteria are tracked into the house when shoes are not taken off upon entrance. Not only will there be muddy footprints waiting for you to clean up, but you may also track in pesticides from the lawns, carcinogenic coal tar from your driveway among various outdoor toxic chemicals that you absolutely want to prevent from spreading all over your home. Also, a doormat will greatly help in keeping your floors clean and trapping those unwanted chemicals. If you’re looking for statistics, researchers have found a 60% decrease of nasty chemicals in homes with doormats at the entrance or where shoes are taken off outside before/upon entering the house. Sometimes, little things can save you a lot of grief!
Tip #3: The Vacuum
During this season, the vacuum is no doubt the ultimate best friend to an allergy-prone person. Use one that’s equipped with a HEPA filter. Suck up the dust in your home frequently, especially in areas you often go to as well as your own bedroom. If you’re a carpet fan, make sure they’re vacuumed too because they track and store more dust than normal surfaces.
Here’s an even better option if you have severe allergies, if you can, get rid of the carpet! Carpets hold dust in their fibers more than a smooth surface floor (like tile or hardwood). It’s easier to clean the dust off of a tiled floor than a carpet.
Tip #4: Wear a Mask…
Before you look away in shock, you don’t have to wear a mask around the house all the time. But, while cleaning, it’s a great habit to do so as dust can really get into your lungs. Before your surfaces are clean and free of dust and germs, remember to protect yourself from them.
Now these habits and tasks may not be in your schedule very often but you or your family members may have just had enough with these allergies. Don’t be afraid to take a leap and change your habit en-route to a better lifestyle. We wish you an enjoyable and allergy-free season!
