Summer is coming to an end – that means it’s time to get ready to go back to school! Here’s a list of some of our tips and suggestions on how you and your kids can prepare:
Be Environmentally Friendly
If you drive your kids to school, try and set up a carpool with neighbourhood families. This cost-effective alternative to driving each day will reduce the amount of gas emissions that pollute the environment. Also, instead of buying regular paper products, switch to recycled paper products – they cost less and they’re better for the environment!
Pack Healthy Snacks and Lunches
Pack healthy snacks – fruits and veggies like apples and baby carrots are easy to prepare and eat. Make sure to wash them thoroughly to get rid of pesticides by using more than just water! Pack a healthy lunch as well, make sure it contains the nutrients your children need to stay healthy, but it also has to be something they will enjoy! Pre-packaged lunches may be tempting because they are easy to throw in a lunch box and kids find them fun. But they don’t always contain the best nutrients! Try to get your children’s involved in preparing their lunch – create your own “pre-packaged” lunch with healthier alternatives.
Tackle Stains
Be prepared for stains of all kinds – our non-toxic stain remover will do the trick, it even tackles washable paint! Some regular stain removers use ingredients that are neurotoxins or carcinogens. Avoid these products to protect your health and to avoid irritation.
Proper Hygiene
We all know that kids get dirty from playing outside at recess, so make sure you’ve got gentle, hypoallergenic soap and shampoo ready for bath time! Also, make sure to use natural laundry care products when washing their clothes to avoid irritation. Traditional laundry detergents can leave a film, optical brighteners or other chemical residues on clothing that can cause rashes or otherwise irritate skin.
Finally, don’t forget to have fun! Back-to-school shopping doesn’t have to be a chore. If your children are reluctant to go, remind them how fun it is to get new things. You can even surprise them by taking them for ice cream once your shopping is done for the day!
